Verify your evidence
You need to identify one verifier per institution you're drawing evidence
from. Your verifier should be someone in a medical supervisory role, such as
a consultant.
You then need to complete a pro-forma for each verifier. This can be
downloaded on the GMC website.
Once you have completed the pro-formas, send to your verifiers. They will
check the evidence you have provided is accurate, and complete parts 04
and 05 of the pro-forma.
Authenticate your evidence
Qualifications gained outside the UK will need to be authenticated. This can
done by a solicitor or notary, or the awarding body.
You then need to updated your authenticated evidence to your application.
You will also need to post the evidence to us in hard copy once your
application has been submitted.
Original certificates will not be accepted, and will be returned to you.
Translate
You will need to translate any documents that are not in English. You must
upload a complete and accurate translation of your documents to your
application, along with the document in its original language.
You will also need to post the translated evidence to us as a hard copy. The
GMC need to see an original stamp and signature from the translation
service you have used.
Nominate your referees
If you are applying for specialist or GP registration, you must choose at least
four referees to provide a structured report in support of your application.
You include:
Primary referee - this should be your current medical, divisional or clinical
director, or someone of an equivalent position.
Other referees - at least two of your referees should be doctors in the
specialty you are applying in, or a closely-related specialty.
If there are registered with the GMC, please provide their GMC number. If
not, please instead provide their work/professional email address.
