PATIENT STORYPaঞent with severe hospital phobia.
To whom it may concern.
This is to share my experience with the amazing support I received from Alison
Farmer at Southampton General following my cancer diagnosis.
Throughout my care, from scans to surgery, through treatment and beyond, I
became extremely anxious and almost unable to funcࢼon. Were it not for the
constant support and help from Alison I really don't think I would have coped.
She was uerly professional and always knew just exactly how to approach the
difficult ࢼmes. She generously afforded the same care to my husband during this
ࢼme too. Nothing was too much trouble and I cannot say strongly enough how
valuable that was for me and for him at that ࢼme.
I am sure that so many people have been lucky enough to meet Alison during
their journey and I have no doubt she has been equally instrumental in making an
unbearable situaࢼon a lile more bearable for those paࢼents and their families.
Access to such wonderful psychological support should, in my opinion, be a
priority and I hope that Alison will be able to conࢼnue to provide the essenࢼal
and incredible care that we were so grateful for.
