Clinical governance:
• To participate in and contribute to departmental clinical governance
• To contribute to complaint or incident investigations as required.
• To actively participate in departmental Mortality and Morbidity meetings.
• To represent the department at divisional, hospital or external meetings as required.
• To demonstrate a commitment to a culture of learning and continuous improvement, in line with
trust policies and guidance.
Management and administration:
• The post-holder will be required to undertake the administrative duties associated with the care
of patients and the running of clinical departments and to travel as necessary between sites.
Administration support and office accommodation is provided.
• All consultants are expected to participate in and contribute to the medical management of the
service. Including participating in speciality and directorate meetings.
• Managerial, including budgetary, responsibilities where appropriate
• Work with colleagues, including divisional and hospital managerial teams, to develop the
service further in line with the Trust's vision.
Supervision and education:
• Educational and clinical supervision of junior medical staff
• Education and supervision of medical students
• Mentoring and supervision of SAS grade doctors and post CCT trust fellows
• Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required for
contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and CME activity, locally and nationally
