The Neuroradiology Department
The Neuroradiology department is sited adjacent to WNC. It contains a
purpose-built MR suite housing 2 Siemens scanners, one 1.5T and one 3T,
along with dedicated facilities for paediatric general anaesthesia. The MR
scanners are being renewed and upgraded in early 2024. A Siemens Edge
Plus CT Scanner is also located within the department.
There is a dedicated neurointerventional biplanar angiography suite, with a
second angiography room installed to support the mechanical thrombectomy
service.
Within the main Radiology department, there are a further 3 Siemens MR
scanners (two 1.5T and one 3T) and 3 CT scanners, on which some
neuroimaging is also undertaken. An intraoperative MRI is also due to be
installed in a new theatre suite.
UHS is part of a regional PACS (Digital Imaging) consortium, employing high
quality SECTRA technology to share images on a single system, making
image viewing and reporting services amongst the best in the country.
