What are the facilities like within the Neuroradiology department?
We have an imaging infrastructure support service (IISS) partnership with Siemens. This means our
scanners are regularly upgraded and we get access to new features and software upgrades regularly. I
have a both a PC and workstation at UHS and one full workstation setup at home. This means I can work
flexibly to support my department. We have had a new fluoroscopy room recently where I am able to do
my procedures with ease. I particularly like our PACS system (SECTRA) that is linked to many of the local
hospital imaging systems and has lots of features that I did not see in other PACS systems when I was a
trainee. This is particularly important as we are a tertiary centre and routinely receive referrals from other
hospitals locally.
What do you like about living on the South Coast?
Hampshire is an ideal place to raise a young family. It offers a range of scenic landscapes and outdoor
activities which has allowed us to connect with nature, vital for me as a radiologist working in dim-lighting.
Easy access to famous attractions including Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, as well as the New Forest, parks,
beaches, farms and indoor recreation areas enables us to spend quality time as a family all year round!
Along with having a rich cultural heritage, Hampshire is modern in its approach and has a diverse and
multicultural population. We have enjoyed various cultural celebrations with the wider community. All of
this combined with the fact that the region has some great schools makes Hampshire the perfect county for
us!
